Center for Theology and Land

The Center for Theology and Land strives to strengthen rural congregations and their communities. Recognizing their longstanding reputation as first-rate educators of pastors for smaller and entry-level churches, the University of Dubuque and Wartburg Seminary joined forces in 1987 to establish a joint center. This Center has help train great pastors for the past seventeen years and also sponsors an annual Rural Ministry Conference for pastors, lay leaders, and interested Christians.

It has recently begun to teach distance courses to those interested in lay ministry, pastors, and those who simply enjoy learning. Besides that, the Center has produced three books, five monographs, and five videotapes as a rural ministry curriculum. Current projects focus on youth ministry, world hunger and agriculture, community building, and leadership development.
