Native American | Lay Pastor Program

The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary Native American Lay Pastor Training Program incorporates distance and residential education and works closely with presbyteries to train Native American Commissioned Lay Pastors for congregations.

The program, funded by a generous grant from the Luce Foundation, began in the summer of 2005 and meets annually for a week on campus with teachers and presbytery liaison members. Students worship together, interact with online learning, and address issues pertinent to Native American ministry.

In the course of four years the students will fulfill the Book of Order mandated courses for Commissioned Lay Pastors through online education and regular meetings with presbytery appointed mentors and the Director of the UDTS Native American Program

To receive further information about this innovative program, or, if you or a congregation would like to support this important ministry, please contact Dr. Henry Fawcett, Director of the Native American Program, at 563-589-3156.
