Melinda L. Thompson
"I am constantly in awe of the fact that the God of the Universe invites us to enjoy fellowship with him. From the moment humanity turned away from God in the garden, the rest of Scripture records the extreme measures God employed to repair and restore that fellowship. Our God is a relational God: our calling, our responsibility, our joy is to bear witness to his invitation to fellowship by demonstrating that fellowship in our earthly relationships with his people. We can do no better than to love the Lord our God with all our heart and soul and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5) and love our neighbor as ourselves (Leviticus 19:18)." Melinda (Mindi) Thompson comes to UDTS after completing her Ph.D. in Scripture (Old Testament emphasis) at a Lutheran (ELCA) seminary in St. Paul . Her doctoral thesis provided a rhetorical-critical analysis of the commands to relational holiness in Leviticus 19. She served as interim professor of Old Testament and Biblical Languages at Crossroads College , as well as student teaching various courses in her masters and doctoral programs. As a member of the independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, Mindi facilitates the gathering of other denominations (GOOD table) lunch fellowship on campus. Dr. Thompson's interests in mission, particularly in the area of Bible translation, have taken her to Puerto Rico and Guinea , West Africa . She was very active in her church in the Twin Cities, leading small group Bible studies, teaching Sunday school, and regularly planning and leading worship. |
