UD Launches Community Partnership Campaign

The University of Dubuque kicked off its Dubuque Community Partnership Campaign on Thursday, August 3 with a reception for volunteers hosted by University President Jeffrey F. Bullock. The annual fundraising campaign is conducted by over 50 community leaders serving as volunteers. The Dubuque Community Partnership Campaign creates opportunities for area businesses and members of the community to become Partners in Education by establishing scholarships in their name. Scholarships received during this campaign will provide much needed funding for University of Dubuque students.

Rich Bean, chairperson for the Dubuque Community Partnership Campaign and manager of investment services and senior vice president of State Central Bank said, "What I see happening at the University of Dubuque is very impressive! I am privileged to be volunteering my time as chairperson for this year's Dubuque Community Partnership Campaign (DCP). This campaign gives businesses and members of the community the opportunity to become a Partner in Education by sponsoring a scholarship for a UD student. Without the support of businesses and community members, many students would have a difficult time making a college education a reality."

"I have been extremely happy with my education and experiences at the University of Dubuque," said Kari Koch (C'06, Dubuque, IA). "I am thankful for the financial support that made my dream possible. Even with the help of federal financial aid, I would not have been able to attend the University of Dubuque without the support from the additional scholarships I received. The continued support from scholarship donors allows for many students, just like me, to pursue their dreams of college."

As the University of Dubuque continues to grow and achieve record enrollments, partnership opportunities like those available through the Dubuque Community Partnership become increasingly important in continuing to provide educational opportunities to students regardless of their ability to pay.

"The Dubuque Community Partnership Campaign is an especially important scholarship program," stated President Jeffrey F. Bullock. "Because many of our students are first generation college students they are often times among the most likely to succeed, but are the least able to afford their education. The generous support of businesses in the Dubuque community is absolutely key to helping our students accomplish their goals."
