UD Ranked Third in State for Largest Fundraising Efforts

The Council for Aid to Education (CAE) announced this week that the University of Dubuque has ranked third among colleges in the State of Iowa for the highest fundraising totals for 2007.

The University's fundraising efforts yielded $28,134, 349 in 2007, ranking third behind the University of Iowa and Iowa State University.

"We are grateful for the support of trustees, alumni/ae and friends for their significant investment in the mission of the University of Dubuque," said John Puotinen, senior vice president for advancement. "Their generosity provides tremendous opportunity for UD students as they prepare for lives of service and achievement. The desire to give back is the key to creating a lasting legacy in the world, regardless of the number of dollars involved, and we are blessed with many individuals and foundation and corporate partners who inspire us in their desire to help make a difference."

CAE is a national nonprofit organization based in New York City. Initially established in 1952 to advance corporate support of education and to conduct policy research on higher education, today CAE is also focused on improving quality and access in higher education. They are the nation's sole source of empirical data on private giving to education, through the annual Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) survey. Their reports show that charitable contributions to colleges and universities in the United States grew by 6.3 percent in 2007, reaching $29.75 billion.
