UD Flight Student Receives UAA Barden Scholarship

University of Dubuque flight student, Amber Sulzner, C`10 (Mechanicsville, IA) has been named one of five recipients of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and University Aviation Association (UAA) Janice K. Barden Aviation Scholarship.

"Amber is committed to becoming a manager and leader in the corporate aviation community," said Steven Accinelli, chair of the University's Aviation Department. "She is an active member of the campus community where she displays exceptional leadership abilities. She was key to the establishment of a Women in Aviation University chapter and is a leader in the University's Student Ambassador Organization. She clearly has tremendous potential."

The NBAA annually awards five $1000 awards to undergraduates studying aviation-related curricula at NBAA and UAA member institutions. The scholarship is named or Janice Barden who has been active in the aviation community for decades and has served as chair of the NBAA Annual Meeting and Convention Local Committee more than any other person in NBAA history.

"I'm very honored to have been awarded the Janice K. Barden Aviation Scholarship," stated Sulzner. "I feel very fortunate, since this will help me to achieve my goal of completing my degree in flight operations and aviation management."

For more than 35 years, the University of Dubuque's aviation programs have been graduating people to take leadership roles in the volatile and ever-expanding field of air transportation. The programs provide students with the academic and professional tools needed to achieve success in the constantly changing aviation industry. The mission of the Aviation Department is to provide students with the professional skills that allow for success in all segments of the aviation industry while enhancing their critical thinking and decision making skills.
