UNI-Tri-College Army ROTC Program Receives Top Ratings

The UNI and Tri-College Army ROTC program has been rated in the top 15 percent of the 272 colleges and universities that provide Army ROTC programs.
Annually, the United States Army's Cadet Command selects the outstanding battalions within the three Army Reserve Officer Training Corps regions. Within each of these regions, awards are presented to battalions based on their enrollment and are categorized as small, medium and large detachments. Selection is made by the Army Cadet Command based upon Order of Merit score, Production Efficiency, Commission Mission Accomplishment, Retention Rate and Contract Mission Accomplishment.

The UNI and Tri-College program was ranked as the best medium sized program in the 11th Brigade of 20 schools in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.
The University of Dubuque's Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Detachment was reactivated in 2002 through a partnership program with the University of Northern Iowa. The partnership agreement allows students at the University of Dubuque, Loras College, and Clarke College to enroll in Army ROTC and earn commission as Army officers upon graduation. Under the agreement, UNI Army ROTC instructors teach in the satellite program on the UD campus.
The ROTC program's primary purpose is to develop leaders through classroom study, hands-on-training, and team building exercises. Students gain the leadership skills necessary to succeed in both the corporate world and in the military. A values-based program, ROTC focuses on integrity, personal courage, respect, and honor as the basic foundation upon which successful and competent leaders are built.
