UD Slates Spring Theatre Production

Apr 5, 2005 | University of Dubuque Theological Seminary

The University's Department of Communication will present Elaine May's Adaptation as its spring 2005 production. The curtain rises each evening April 8-10 at 8:00 p.m. in Blades Hall on the University of Dubuque campus.

A timepiece like Adaptation may have all the trappings of 1968, but the message is as old as time, "Life is a hard game." Our values, our ability to reason and adapt define us. And our actions reveal to the world who we are. The universal truth still applies, "It's not if you win or lose, it's how you play." Watch our contestant Phil's adaptations, as we see what cards he's dealt, and what choices he makes, in 'the game of life'- a 1960's timepiece that still resonates today.

The show's cast includes Chazse Goddard (DeWitt, Iowa) as Contestant Phil Benson, David Hayes (Council Bluffs, Iowa) as Male Player, Heidi Zull (El Paso, TX) as Games Master, and Tara Fannin (Xenia, Ohio) as Female Player. The show is directed by Molly Huerta-Hoefflin, whose directing credits include productions at the Bell Tower Theater, the Grand Opera House, and Fly-by-Night Theatrical Productions. Adaptation is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.

The show will run three nights, April 8, 9, and 10, at 8:00 p.m. in Blades Auditorium. General admission is $5.00. Tickets will be available at the door.
