University Announces Puotinen as Senior Vice President for Advancement

President Jeffrey F. Bullock today announced the appointment of John V. Puotinen (Poo-ought-tin-in) as Senior Vice President for Advancement. 

Since 1999 Puotinen has served as vice president for the Foundation at Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The Lutheran Home is a premier provider of health care and residential services for older adults with 850 employees and $45 million in annual operating revenue on two campuses in suburban Chicago. He has also served as Director of Development at Luther Manor in Milwaukee, Director of Planned Giving for Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, an Investment Executive with Piper, Jaffray, Inc., and as developer and founding pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Libertyville, Illinois. 

Puotinen earned his bachelor's degree at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, his master of divinity degree at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is an ordained Lutheran pastor. 

Upon announcing the appointment, President Bullock stated, "While we have accomplished much in the past seven years, the development of a solid financial base that supports the University's Mission and ensures our future is of the highest priority to those of us who serve on campus, to our alumni/ae and parents, and to Trustees who have been steadfast in their support. We look to John for his leadership in achieving this goal, building on the good work of those who have preceded him." 

Puotinen will begin his service to the University May 16, 2005 and his spouse Janet, a human resource specialist at S. C. Johnson Company in Racine, Wisconsin will join him soon thereafter.
