UD to Launch Community Partnership Campaign

The University of Dubuque will kick off its Dubuque Community Partnership Campaign on Wednesday, August 31 with a reception for volunteers hosted by University President Jeffrey F. Bullock. The annual fundraising campaign creates opportunities for area businesses to become partners in education by establishing scholarships in their business' name. Scholarships received during this campaign will provide much needed funding for University of Dubuque students.

Tom Yunt, president and chief operating officer of Woodward Communications, Inc., says, "What I see happening at the University of Dubuque as a local citizen, current graduate student, and local business executive is nothing less than spectacular! I understand the importance of education as a life-long pursuit. I also understand the importance, need, and costs associated with an college education and have decided to 'step up to the plate' and invest the time, energy, and resources necessary in allowing a number of worthy students to begin their life-long education journey at the University of Dubuque."

"I couldn't afford college tuition on my own and, like most students, had to take loans to cover the costs. I greatly appreciated receiving the Dubuque Community Partnership scholarship from the Telegraph Herald and enjoyed meeting with Brian Cooper, executive editor of the TH, at the scholarship luncheon," said Katie Sickels (C'06). "I found the luncheon to be a great chance to meet with the donor and thank him personally for what the TH had given. It also provided me with a connection to call on after graduation, as I begin looking for career opportunities."

As the University of Dubuque continues to grow and achieve record enrollments, partnership opportunities like those available through the Dubuque Community Partnership become increasingly important in continuing to provide educational opportunities to students regardless of their ability to pay.
