UD Receives Annual Fund Matching Gift Challenge

Mar 20, 2007 | University of Dubuque Theological Seminary

The University of Dubuque has received a matching gift challenge from Trustee Jean Donnell Parker. To boost the University of Dubuque Annual Mission & Vision Fund, the Jean Parker Matching Gift Challenge will be used to encourage participation and increase giving to the Annual Mission & Vision Fund

"Jean, a Life Member of the Board of Trustees, has always been an advocate for the annual needs of the University, our students, faculty and campus facilities," stated John Puotinen, senior vice president for advancement. "She strongly believes that the picture of a healthy institution includes a faithful group of alumni, friends, faculty, and staff who support the University's Mission each year."

Jean Donnell Parker's story of involvement with the University of Dubuque stretches back long before her own lifetime. Adrian VanVliet, the founder of the University, was the officiating pastor at the wedding of Jean's grandparents. Ever since, her family connection to the University has remained strong.

In addition to the gifts Jean and her late husband Clair have made such as the support for seminary housing and the renovation of the Donnell Residence Hall, the Annual Mission & Vision Fund (AMVF) has always been of key importance. The University's AMVF provides for scholarships, academic resources, technology and ongoing needs of the University all year, every year.

One can participate in the Jean Parker Matching Gift Challenge in one of three ways:

New Gift: A new gift to the Annual Mission & Vision Fund will be matched 2:1. For example, if a first-time donor contributes $100, the Jean Parker Challenge will contribute an additional $200, making a total benefit to the University of $300.

Increased Gift: Current donors who increase their support to the Annual Mission & Vision Fund will have their increase matched 1:1. For example, if a donor increases their annual gift from $50 to $100, the increase of $50 would be matched making the total benefit to the University of $150.

Renewed Gift: Donors who haven't given to the University during the last two fiscal years (since June 1, 2004) will be eligible to have their gift matched 2:1 for renewing their support of the University.

Gifts through May 31, 2007 are eligible for this matching opportunity. Please contact the University of Dubuque Office of Advancement with questions at 1.800.483.2586.
