UD Presents The Art of Dance

The University of Dubuque's Fine and Performing Arts Department will present The Art of Dance on Friday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Blades Hall on the University of Dubuque campus. The event is a part of the University's fourth annual spring arts series of events titled The Character of Art; The Art of Character. Admission is free of charge. 

Pianist Dr. Bang Lang Do, assistant professor of music at Divine Word College in Epworth and instructor of piano at the University of Dubuque, will perform works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Isaac Albeniz, with the choreography and dance of Shelby Eaton, Gretchen Breitbach (C'10, Dubuque, Iowa), and Max and Zoe Ressler. 

The University of Dubuque Jazz Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Sax Quartet and seventeen-member Big Band, led by Dr. James Sherry will present dance works from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Modern Eras, including greatest hits from the Swing Era, America's Golden Age of Music. Graphic Art works of University of Dubuque students will be on display. 

"Please join us for an elegant evening of great music inspired by the art of dance,'" said Sherry. "This is an amazing collaboration of some of Dubuque's finest talent and the University of Dubuque Fine and Performing Arts Department. There is truly something for everyone on this program."
