"Diversity'" is often a buzzword we use to dress up our organizations in an aura of inclusiveness and cultural currency. But how does diversity become real, workable, and meaningful in the trenches of our work together?" said John Hatch, University Wendt Professor. "Dr. David Anderson has dealt with these questions both as a diversity consultant and as the founding pastor of a thriving multiracial/multicultural church in Maryland. Out of these experiences and a deep commitment to reconciliation, Dr. Anderson has much to share with us about fostering healthy diversity - right where we live."
A nationally syndicated radio talk show host on one of the largest stations in the Nation's capital, Anderson hosted Reconciliation Live, which focused on issues of race, diversity, and multiculturalism through interviews with guests, discussions with callers, and insights provided by Anderson. Dr. Anderson is also the founder and senior pastor of Bridgeway Community Church, a multicultural congregation ofover 2000 weekly attendees, located in Columbia, Maryland. In addition, Anderson serves as a visiting professor of diversity at the University of Phoenix and has been named by Savoy magazine as the number one up-and-coming religious leader to watch in their listing of 100 most powerful black leaders in America (July 2003). A published author, Anderson's writings include Gracism: The Art of Inclusion , Letters Across the Divide: Two Friends Explore Racism, Friendship and Faith , and Multicultural Ministry: Finding Your Church's Unique Rhythm .
Dr. Anderson received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Moody Bible Institute and his Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology and Religion from Oxford Graduate School. He resides in Howard County, Maryland.
During his time on the University of Dubuque campus, Anderson will address various student and faculty groups, spend time in the classroom, and deliver the sermon at Tuesday Chapel (9:30 a.m., Blades Hall).
