UD Presents The Amen Corner

The University of Dubuque's Fine and Performing Arts Department, UD Gospel Choir, and the UD Drama Club will present The Amen Corner by James Baldwin on Thursday, February 19 and Friday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall on the University of Dubuque campus. Admission is free of charge.

Set in Harlem in the 1950's, The Amen Corner tells the story of a woman preacher who seeks to lead her congregation toward unity and salvation through very difficult times. Her former husband, a jazz musician, makes an unexpected return into her life, seeking reconciliation and resolution. Both funny and poignant, the production features gospel music and the UD Gospel Choir.

The show is directed by Amy Ressler, associate professor of fine & performing arts; music director is Tony Brown; set and lighting design by Marc Muehleip, costume design by Jenn Supple, communication faculty, piano by Leo Roldan, percussion by Jim Berg. Sponsored by the Wendt Center for Character Education, The Amen Corner is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French.
