The University of Dubuque Arts Celebration Committee is proud to announce the sixth annual spring arts series of events in a month-long celebration of the arts, March 31 - May 5. This year's theme is Life In Art . Featured guests, Michael Perry, humorist and author, and Antonio Sacre, performer, storyteller, and author, will deliver readings and lectures as part of this enjoyable and educational celebration of the art we find in everyday life. This year's events highlight our students and faculty, featuring our actors, artists, writers, singers, musicians.

His next two picture books will be released by Abrams Books for Young Readers in 2010. He is a frequent commentator on National Public Radio's Latino USA .

Events throughout the month feature involvement by both the College and Seminary including Spring Concerts at St. Peter Lutheran Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church; Cinco de Mayo concert featuring the UD Jazz Ensemble; two student/faculty art exhibits - The Edge and And The Word Became Flesh , Articulate , a student art and literary magazine; gallery talks by UD students on their original artwork and literary creations; and the Spring Musical Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story .

"The University of Dubuque Arts Committee is very excited that faculty, staff, and students have come together for the sixth annual celebration of our many artistic talents," stated Mike Willis, University multimedia specialist and project director of the events. "We're pleased to host two visiting artists, Mr. Michael Perry and Mr. Antonio Sacre. It's an honor to bring them to campus - which would not be possible without the support of the William P. Woodward Visiting Artist-In-Residence Endowment, the Wendt Center for Character Education, and the dedication of faculty and staff. Mr. Perry and Mr. Sacre have graciously agreed to meet with students both on and off-campus, and will be offering a public reading or performance on campus as well. We are equally blessed with a supremely talented collection of faculty, staff, and students whose talents will also be on display.

All events are free and open to the public.
