UD To Offer New Entirely Online Master’s Program

Mark Ward, vice president for academic affairs at the University of Dubuque, announced today that the University will launch its first entirely online master’s program, the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership, beginning fall semester, 2015. The program – a fully-accredited 30-credit degree, which can be earned in one year – will root students in knowledge of the Christian Scriptures and the Church’s theological tradition, and will equip women and men for missional service and leadership in their chosen vocations. The degree program draws on the strengths of faculty from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and the Department of Religion, Philosophy, and History of the undergraduate college.

University of Dubuque Achieving the Dream Campaign Surpasses Goal

University President Jeffrey F. Bullock today announced that the University of Dubuque has crossed the $100 million dollar mark in the Achieving the Dream campaign, which began on January 1, 2009. The campaign, scheduled to end December 31, 2015, has achieved its goal fifteen months ahead of schedule.

The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary will be undergoing an accreditation review from the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools, November 17-21, 2014. The Commission invites third-party comments in writing to the school and/or to the commission concerning the institution’s qualifications for accreditation.
Folk Singer Carrie Newcomer Takes Center Stage at UD’s Heritage Center

Heritage Center, the University of Dubuque’s performing arts, worship, and campus center, will host folk singer/songwriter-guitarist Carrie Newcomer on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. Carrie marks her UD debut with piano accompaniment by Gary Walters, and a special guest appearance by the UD Gospel Choir. The performance is part of a week-long artist residency at UD for the performer, during which she will participate in worship services, hold public workshops, and work with student writers, actors, and musicians.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that raises funds for childhood cancer research. UD faculty and students will participate in this St. Baldrick's event by shaving their heads and donating funds toward this worth cause. The event gives hope to infants, children, teens, and young adults who are fighting childhood cancers.

University of Dubuque Fine and Performing Arts Department Announces Spring Choir Concerts

The University of Dubuque Fine And Performing Arts Department will present three spring concerts by the University's Concert Choir and Chamber Singers over the weekend of April 19, 2013. The Concert Choir will perform on Friday, April 19 and the Chamber Singers on Saturday, April 20 in Blades Chapel on the University of Dubuque Campus; both concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. The Concert Choir will perform an encore concert on Sunday, April 21 at Queen of the Rosary Chapel, 282 County Road Z, Sinsinawa, WI at 3:00 p.m.
University of Dubuque Music Faculty Member, Dr. Charles Barland, Invited to Perform Organ Recitals in Europe and U.S.

University of Dubuque music professor and University Organist, Dr. Charles Barland, is currently engaged in a year of performances that span from California to the United Kingdom. A member of the University of Dubuque's faculty since 2002, Dr. Barland was recently invited to perform solo organ recitals in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Iowa, and California.
Teacher Education Program Receives Continued Accreditation

The University of Dubuque Teacher Education Program has received formal approval of continued accreditation by the Iowa Board of Education. The board made the approval at their March 28, 2013 meeting in Des Moines.
