John P. Jewell D.Min.
Director of Distance Learning, UDTS
John Jewell is an ordained minister and Director of Distance Learning at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary . John served local congregations for almost 35 years before coming to UDTS.  His doctoral work was in the area of congregational renewal.  His books include, New Tools for a New Century: First Steps in Equipping your Church for the Digital Revolution , published by Abingdon Press, and, Wired for Ministry: How The Internet, Visual Media, and Other New Technologies Can Serve Your Church published by Brazos Press in 2004.

Michael G. Bausch D.Min.
Pastor, Union Congregational Church
Waupun, Wisconsin
Michael Bausch is pastor of the Union Congregational Church in Waupun , Wisconsin where he has conducted a media rich worship service for six years. Michael's doctoral work was in the area of multi media enriched worship. He is also director of www.worshipmedia.com. Mike speaks and leads workshops across the country. Alban Institute published his book, Silver Screen, Sacred Story: Using Multimedia in Worship in Fall of 2002.

Pastor as Leader: Shepherding Transformation in the Congregation

  • Explore History and Theology of Pastoral Leadership
  • Examine the leadership styles of the sutdents.
  • Explore the history of technology and its use in the church while looking at the promise of new technologies for worship education and evangelism 

Year Two
Ministry and the Arts: Reaching Out in a Post Christian, Image Driven Era

  • Develop an understanding of contemporary culture through media.
  • Reflect on the biblical-theological relationship between the church and the world.
  • Work with and analyze current media, music, and art with a view to revitalization of ministry.

Year Three
Communication Technologies: Serving Congregational Renewal

  • Craft a doctoral project that brings together all elements of the program.
  • Use new educational and worship technologies to serve congregational renewal.
