Doctor of Ministry Degree (DMIN) Program Application

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. This application form is intended for prospective students applying for our Doctor of Ministry Degree (DMIN) program. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FORM IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR A MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM, OR AS AN INTERNATIONAL OR UNCLASSIFIED STUDENT.

Please take the time to carefully review the application requirements. It is important to note that the Admissions Committee will not review your application until your file is complete. UDTS is on a rolling admissions plan; there are no deadlines for submitting applications. However, applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the application on or before January 15.

Application Instructions

The applicant is responsible for assuring the timely arrival of all materials. NO application is considered until ALL necessary papers have been received.

  1. An application fee of $50 U.S.A. (nonrefundable). You may either call student accounts at 563.589.3708 or 563.589.3212 to pay by credit card. Or mail a check payable to UDTS DMin Program to the following address:

  2. Request that the appropriate person or institution send to the DMin Office (Attn: Lu LeConte) an official transcript for all work done at every seminary or divinity school in which you have studied for academic credit please send official copies of your academic records.
  3. Send a three to five (3-5) page narrative statement that addresses the following two issues: a biographical statement describing your call to ministry, and a statement explaining your anticipated learning goals for participation in the Doctor of Ministry program. Be sure to have your full name and date applied for the program in the email to Lu LeConte (LLeConte@dbq.edu).
  4. Provide names and email addresses for three letters of recommendation. The types of recommenders and terms are described below. These individuals may not be related to you by blood or marriage. You are responsible for contacting these three individuals, and asking them to email their letter of recommendation to Lu LeConte (LLeConte@dbq.edu)
    1. From your congregation: A letter from an official of the congregation which affirms its willingness to support your Doctor of Ministry work and its agreement to create a congregational resource team.
    2. From a judicatory official: A letter which assesses your capabilities and endorses you as a Doctor of Ministry candidate.
    3. From a colleague in ministry: A letter reflecting on your ability to undertake Doctor of Ministry work.
  5. An interview is required for admission. Please email the Director of the DMin Program, Dr. Timothy Slemmons at tslemmons@dbq.edu to make arrangements.
