Iowa Students Receive Free Assistance with Financial Aid for College

On Saturday, February 26, Iowa students and families will be able to receive free assistance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the federally required form for students who want financial aid for college. The event, sponsored by the Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) and hosted by the University of Dubuque, will be held in the Charlesand Romona Myers Center on the University of Dubuque Campus.

TIME: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

"This event is a great opportunity for students and families to receive free assistance in filing the FAFSA," stated Amy Gaffney, associate director of student financial planning at the University of Dubuque. "Local financial aid professionals will be on hand from the area colleges and universities as well as the Iowa College Access Network (ICAN), providing one-on-one guidance through the application process. UD is happy to host this inaugural event andinitiatewhat will bean annual event for Dubuque and its surrounding communities."

The Iowa College Access Network is a nonprofit, educational organization. ICAN is the College Access Network for Iowa, and a member of the National College Access Network (NCAN). ICAN has three locations in Cedar Rapids, Sioux City and West Des Moines, which provide information and support to students and their families as they plan their postsecondary education and apply for financial aid.
