The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Board (Des Moines, IA) has accepted the appointment of Jeffrey F. Bullock, president of the University of Dubuque, as an ex-officio member of the board. The Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU) appoints a representative from one of the state's private institutions to serve on the IEDA board.

UD for KIDS Record Enrollment Year

The summer 2012 UD for KIDS program is now in full swing - bringing young students from first through seventh grade to the University Campus. Grades 1-2 were present for the program's first week - June 18-22; grades 3-4 are on campus this week - June 25-29; and grades 5-7 will attend classes July 9-13. Classes are held daily from 12:30-4:00 p.m. at various campus locations. For the first time ever, UD for KIDS closed enrollment in March and April due to an overwhelming response. Classes filled extremely quickly - with a current enrollment of 802 students.

Jennifer Supple Bartels, teaching specialist in communication, was recognized with the John Knox Coit Prize, and Richard Birkenbeuel, director of the domestic and international MBA programs and associate professor of business, was recognized with the William Lomax Award.

UD ROTC Commissions Cadets

Today, the University of Dubuque bestowed high student, faculty, and staff honors upon five individuals and one student organization at the 2012 Honors Convocation at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The University of Dubuque Wendt Center for Character Education and the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement are pleased to host the Watoto Children's Choir - advocates for the estimated 50 million children in Africa, orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, war, poverty and disease - on Thursday, April 26. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Blades Chapel on the University of Dubuque campus. The event is free and open to the public.
