UD Arts Department to Present The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later

Iowa Students Receive Free Assistance with Financial Aid for College

On Saturday, February 25, Iowa students and families will be able to receive free assistance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the federally required form for students who want financial aid for college. The event, sponsored by the Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) and hosted by the University of Dubuque, will be held in the Charles & Romona Myers Center on the University of Dubuque Campus. UD is one of 31 sites across Iowa to host this financial aid event.

UD Students Experience the World for J-Term

In the second year of the University of Dubuque's January Term (J-Term) calendar, 798 students participated in classes in an intensive three-week study session. Of those, 82 used the opportunity to travel - both domestically and internationally. Courses with a travel component included destinations such as the Bahamas, Belize, China, England, Key West, New York, and Sri Lanka.

UD Receives $5 Million Matching Gift Challenge

University President Jeffrey F. Bullock announced today that the University of Dubuque has received a $5 million matching gift challenge from University Trustee John and Alice Butler. Matching gifts to the John and Alice Butler Matching Gift Challenge will establish a permanent endowment earmarked to support the programming and operations of the University's Performing Arts and Campus Center. The Center, currently under construction, is slated for completion in 2013. The John and Alice Butler Matching Gift Challenge is intended to encourage wider participation in this significant project and increase financial support for the arts on campus.

UD Mediation Team Nationally Ranked

During November 10-12, 2011, the University of Dubuque Mediation Team, coached by Professor Ben Bartels, competed in the National Intercollegiate Mediation Tournament. The team placed 9th in the nation, and three students received individual honors.

UD Announces $6 Million Investment in Academic Programs

University President Jeffrey F. Bullock today announced the distribution of a major investment in academic programs by University Board Chair Joseph and Linda Chlapaty. Over $6 million in funding, a gift from the Chlapatys, will be used to support the establishment of endowed academic chairs for the undergraduate college in chemistry, mathematics, economics, and for the seminary in church renewal. A summer research fellowship in science and mathematics has also been created in the undergraduate college.

University of Dubuque Receives Substantial Gift for Endowed Scholarships

The University of Dubuque has recently received a generous gift of more than $800,000 from the estate of Helen E. Knuth (1912-2010) to establish the Paul and Sara Knuth Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship is named to honor the memory of Helen's parents, Paul, a philosophy professor at UD from 1912-1919, and Sara Walker Knuth. Paul died in 1919 at the age of 39, and Sara was left with two young daughters to support. Sara told her daughters she was fortunate to have a college education. Paul and Sara's commitment to education inspired their daughters, and this scholarship recognizes the high value the family placed on education.

UD for KIDS Celebrates 20 Years of Fun!

The Summer 2011 UD for KIDS program began on Monday, June 20 - marking the 20 year anniversary for the popular children's program. This year's program will bring young students to the campus during the weeks of June 20-24 for grades 1-2; June 27 - July 1 for grades 3-4 and July 11-15 for grades 5-7. Classes will be held each day from 12:30-4:00 p.m. at the University.
