On Thursday, October 21, Dubuque native, Troy Henkels, will showcase his experiences in living life to the extreme from Alaska, to Everest, and beyond. The lecture and slide presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Hadley Auditorium, Dunlap Technology Center on the University of Dubuque campus.
UD to Host Author of May I Kiss You?

The University of Dubuque will host author and speaker Mike Domitrz on Monday, October 11. The event is a part of the UD Wellness Program for students, faculty and staff. The event is funded by a NCAA grant designed to help campuses bring in speakers to educate students in handling difficult issues. The program will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, beginning at 7:00 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
UD Dedicates South Campus

On Saturday, October 9, the University of Dubuque will dedicate its South Campus. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on the football practice field overlooking University Park Village, as a part of the University's 2004 Homecoming activities.
UD Rocks the Vote with MTV and Syrus

On Tuesday, October 19, 2004 the University of Dubuque's Student Government Association will host MTV's Rock the Vote - a non-profit, non-partisan organization that engages youth in the political process by incorporating the entertainment community and young adult culture into its activities. The event will take place in the McCormick Gymnasium on campus. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the event begins at 7:00 p.m. Voter registration will be held before and after the event.

An annual issue honoring educational interior design excellence, University of Dubuque, Charles C. Myers Library, Dubuque, IA is among 99 projects profiled in this August, 2004 edition of AS&U. UD's entry was submitted by Straka Johnson Architects of Dubuque, Iowa.
UD Achieves Record Enrollment

As students converged on campus for New Student Orientation, August 19-22, it became clear - without even looking at the official numbers - that enrollment was at an all-time high. During those four days, a record number of students moved into their residence halls, registered for classes, and participated in the many co-curricular and curricular activities designed to make their transition to college life a bit easier.

Paul Jeffries, associate professor of philosophy and religion, is one of fifty college-level instructors across the country selected to participate in a national study conducted by the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion and the University of Notre Dame in the 2004-2005 academic year.

University Receives Valparaiso Grant

The University of Dubuque recently received a $10,000 grant from the Valparaiso Project on the Education and Formation of People in Faith for a proposal developed by Paul Jeffries, associate professor of philosophy and religion. This "Practicing our Faith" grant will focus on UD students enrolled in the 3/3 Program (for non-traditional, second-career students pursuing their undergraduate studies as well as master of divinity degree in a six-year time frame.)
